Centre for Bharatiya Management Development (CBMD) is a section 25 company registered under companies' act 1956. With an aim to empower the nation by empowering the poor it launched its microfinance programme on 1st November 2006. Their vision is to reach 1 million poor families by 2016. The organisation’s mission is to support underserved communities by providing access to financial services and livelihood development activities.

Geographically, Nagpur is in the center of India. Even though it is quite well connected by rail and road and is known for its landmarks, like many other parts of India, there is severe backwardness in a few areas. CBMD works in the semi urban areas across the city and reaches out to women in slums.
