Nari & Sishu Kalyan Samittee (NSKS) is a development support organization evolved through a process initiated in 1995 by a group of social workers who believe that community organization at the grassroots and human resource development is the key to the sustainable development of deprived communities. It is a non-profit making, non-political and non-religious organization under the Society Registration Act. 1860. The organization has taken upon itself the role of a proactive catalyst, playing a critical role in promoting village level community based organization and capacitating the community to bring around a better deal for the vulnerable sections of the society.

Balasore (also known as Baleswar and Baleshwar) is a strategically located city in the state of Orissa, about 194 kilometres north of the state capital Bhubaneswar, in eastern India. It is the administrative headquarters of Balasore district. It is here that NSKS took shape and is now working across villages in the district of Balasore.
