The monsoon month has been buzzing with activities at Rang De. The team scouted away to different parts of the country evaluating borrowers to understand Rang De's social impact. Most of these stories have now been uploaded on the RangDe.Org. We will continue to share with you evaluations on an ongoing basis at the beginning of each month through our success story digest.
While there were the highs, there were also the lows. We were unable to roll out our education program this year. We hope to re-launch it next year with a sustainable approach and are looking for partners.

Fresh veggies at your door step...
Finally, Saritha, our Accounts Manager said enough is enough to her accounting job and took off along with Rohit, our volunteer for some real field work. On a wet afternoon, the twosome who takes pride in their Tamil communication accomplished their first evaluation. Bharathi's story is akin to thousands of vegetable vendors who we interact with every day. In most cities, the vegetable vendors go through the same ordeal. They borrow from local money lenders in the morning and pay back a much higher amount at the close of business, leaving them with very little for themselves. The Rang De loan came as a relief to Bharathi as she can bid goodbye to the money lenders!

The much talked about "audio conversations" are here at last for you to listen and experience. Special thanks to our volunteers Manoj, Shantaram, Salil and Siddesh Dhuri for anchoring the conversations with the borrower. Do send an email to diksha[at]rangde[dot]org if you would like to anchor a conversation. You can listen to the audio conversations with Aruna Prakash Tawar(in Marathi) and Latha(in Tamil). Do read our blogpost on audio evaluations for more insight on what goes behind the scenes to bring these audio evaluations to light.

A view of the homestay and Devbagh
Chindarkar and his family run a homestay in Devbagh.Through the Rural Tourism Network Enterprise (initiative of IFMR Trust), Chindarkar received a Rang De loan to improve the infrastructure of his homestay. This meant changing some basic furnishing etc and within no time the homestay is not just all spruced up but has also generated additional revenue. For more stories about the rural tourism network enterprise, please visit their blog.
