Roshan Vikas works with women co-operatives and supports them with access to credit and livelihood support. An important area of their work is to provide market access to the group members once they are trained on a particular skill. Another focus area for Roshan Vikas is Education. They support the group members with grants and low cost education loans in order to send their children to school.

Roshan Vikas works in the old city of Hyderabad which is ridden with issues faced by many walled cities in India – the lack of sufficient medical and social facilities, little to no access to credit, and an inadequate education system. There are only 391 government schools in this part of the city, responsible for educating 650,000 students. Only 15% of the children enrolled in Class 1 will reach Class 10. The lack of infrastructure and basic facilities, irregular attendance of teachers and the absence of basic motivation in government schools, contribute to the low enrolment and high dropout rates.
