We have all been reading distressing reports from rural areas of
Bundelkhand. For Bundelkhand, 2015 was the third consecutive year of drought. The rabi crop was damaged by hail
storms and unprecedented rain in Feb-April 2015 followed by drought during the kharif season, leaving the agricultural economy in shambles and the people in distress.
Rang De is raising donations for the vulnerable communities in Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The amount will be utilised by Parmarth Samaj Sevi Sansthan, an NGO that has been working in the region for nearly 2 decades, to run community kitchens that will provide two hot cooked meals to the underprivileged, mostly belonging to the SC and ST groups to save them from sleeping hungry. The organisation is already running community kitchens in 3 villages of Kadesra Khurd, Bhagauna & Rajawan villages in Lalitpur. Most of the people using the kitchen are the elderly and vulnerable. Food items cooked include curry, dal and roti. The women from the community will be contributing their voluntary time and labour to cook these meals, and the donation amount shall be utilised to purchase rations to keep the kitchen running.
Please do contribute generously to help bring relief to the families. All donations are eligible for tax exemption under Section 80G.
