There is a fine line between 'hard work' and 'success'. Everyone who works hard does not ultimately succeed yet success does not come without hard work. As you read further, you will begin to see how Ushashri Madan Rathod crossed over that fine line.
When Rang De member Deepak visited Ushashri in Digras in Yavatmal district, she was having a busy day. Being a mother, a wife and a businesswoman, she slipped into every role with ease. She sells artificial jewellery, popularly known as 'Bentex Jewellery' in the locality, from her home.
Over the years, Ushashri has taken three more loans to increase her stock and enhance her business. The business has grown substantially such that she now sells an increasing variety of products.
But what makes her unique is the fact that she accepts product returns which most of her competitors do not. She knows her products well and she builds the customer relationship on trust.
She is not the same person that she used to be a few years ago. A curious woman with a desire to do something for herself and her family, she met with Rang De field partner Sagras. Educating her about the opportunities available, representatives at Sagras also explained to her about micro-credit and she took her first steps towards a better life with a Rang De loan.
She is now looking for a new place to shift her business. Right now, her home is just not big enough to accommodate customers and her stock of products.
Ushashri Madan Rathod runs a business of selling bentex jewellery from the comfort of her home so that she can give equal attention to her two kids and her business. With most of the villagers earning an average amount of income, bentex jewellery seems as a cheap and convenient option for all the ladies and children to look good and glitter away during any family function or occasion. So the business has picked up over the past 4 years. With business growing, she needs to stock more earrings, pendants, bangles, kangans etc, and for this she needs Rs.5000/- as loan.
